Finnochio

Great dinner last night:

Rigattoni with Grilled Tuna, Fennel and Grape Tomatoes

Sounds good huh? I put this together from a few different recipes. None that I found had all of the ingredients I wanted to use:

Ingredients:

Tuna Steak 1/2 lb to be grilled or baked and cut into cubes or flaked.

Rigattoni (or pasta shape of your choice)

1 Fennel Bulb
1 Vidalia Onion
3 Cloves Garlic
1 cup Grape Tomatoes
2 Tbsp Capers
1 Lemon, juice/zest
Red Pepper Flakes
S&P

Prep tuna, cooked/grilled with olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and zest

Cut off the fronds of fennel bulb. Then clean, quarter and core. Slice thinly into strips, lengthwise. Cut the onion thinly into similar length. Prep 2 cloves of garlic, smash and mince.
Heat skillet, add 2 tbsp olive oil, then add fennel. After 2 minutes, add onion. 2 Tbsp Capers, Red Pepper Flakes, Garlic, and Salt. Saute over med-low heat until almost tender for about 10 minutes total. Turn off heat. Zest Lemon to taste and add squeeze of fresh lemon juice and halved grape tomatoes.

Cook Pasta in slightly salted water, reserve 1/2 cup.

Add tuna into vegetable mixture. Then add a bit of fresh olive oil to the drained hot pasta, stir and add vegetable mixture and pasta water if needed. Season to taste.

We did not do cheese.. in this case.. trying to keep it light. Mmm.

why i hate the nutmegers

people in connecticut think they their shit doesn't stink.
they think that they, their children and their shitty 80s furniture is worth so much!

exhibit a:

it blows my mind!!
and it makes me so angry...
and so jealous of other places... on craigslist in new york today, there are actually tasteful items listed at a reasonable prices. modern mid century hutches for 300 ... mission style oak dressers for 250! come on and go fuck yourselves ct. how can you believe that someone is going to pay you what you paid in 1988?!? i can't handle it anymore.

look at that fabric, it belongs in the break room of a church or non-profit. as a donation!

wait, wait- I'm not done.. please go to the post and see that they reference a site "dinettes express online" or something.. (now i'm feeling bad.. but but really i see this alot.)

oh henry

poor monkey birds getting eaten by that engine.

first i will say that i am very happy for all those on that flight yesterday. how amazing that the pilot crashed that plane so gracefully into the hudson. i am so happy they and all new yorkers are safe.
but now i will say, how awful for all the ducks, geese and wildlife birds that get chewed and incinerated by airplane engines everyday. how sad.

a moment for their innocent souls, please.

thank you.

I am terrified for this country, it's youth and the english language.

Youtube is the place to really find out where we are at culturally-and I'm not talking videos or what's popular in music..no, it's the comments below them. I am truly frightened.

dans paris

what the hell safari. I wrote a very thoughtful blog post and then - nothing.

well here it is for you.

last night while house-sitting i got to enjoy the goodness of the *digital silver* cable package. Oh IFC, Sundance how I miss thee.

So I turned on ~DANS PARIS~ and watched a portion of the middle.. but it stuck with me all day.. I love it when that happens!! it's cheesy to write and hard to articulate, but I love when a movie gets in (or sneaks in while you weren't realizing it and then washes back over you the next days. up and out - full emotional recollection staring at an spreadsheet. wonderful!

click here and perhaps you will understand why...

you should play this video approximately 3x times over for full absorption and then click here to satiate your desire for the lyrics which are both brutal and sweet: http://croadian.theeruditian.com/?p=33

I can't wait to purchase this absurdly dark and touching movie and give it my full attention!
Merci Bien! Christophe Honore!
